Hosting & server logs

This website is self-hosted. When you access it, the server processes technically necessary data (in particular IP address, date and time of access, the resource requested, the volume of data transferred, referrer and user agent) in order to deliver the site and to ensure its stability and security. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in secure, error-free operation (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). These server logs are not merged with other data sources and are deleted after a short period.

Contact by email

If you contact us by email, we process the information you provide (e.g. name and email address as well as the content of your message) solely to handle your enquiry. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in responding (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR) or, where a contract is concerned, Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR. The data is deleted once your enquiry has been conclusively dealt with and no statutory retention obligations apply.

Comments (Cusdis)

For comments under blog articles we use the self-hosted, cookie-free comment system Cusdis. It sets no tracking cookies and embeds no third-party services. When you submit a comment, we process and store the comment text, the name you provide and – if you supply one – an email address; the email address is not published and is used only to notify you of replies, if applicable. For technical reasons your IP address is transmitted to our server in the process. The legal basis is your consent given by submitting the comment (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR) together with our legitimate interest in protection against abuse (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). Comments are stored until you request their deletion or we remove them. No transfer to third countries takes place.

Your rights

You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21 GDPR). You may withdraw any consent given at any time with effect for the future. To exercise your rights, an informal message to info@ms-books.com is sufficient.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The authority responsible for us is the Bavarian State Office for Data Protection Supervision (BayLDA), Promenade 27, 91522 Ansbach, Germany.
